This instructional program class comprises any residency training program that prepares veterinarians to apply advanced knowledge of the chemical properties and biological effects of drugs to rational drug therapy in animal patients. These programs include courses in the comparative pharmacology of principal drug groups, pharmacokinetics, basic mechanisms and features of diseases occurring in domesticated animals, the role of drugs in modifying the disease process, and specific skills critical to the practice of clinical pharmacology.
